The Alaska Chamber of Commerce had two informational meetings last week that our Prince of Wales Chamber board members, Karen Peterson and Misty Fitzpatrick, listened in on. They took notes to share with you, (attached below) giving you a brief explanation of two programs now available to businesses to help with the financial troubles surrounding the Covid-19 emergency. One is a streamlined Small Business Association loan program to get you the money you may need right away. The other is information on the Stimulus Package, which includes deferred payment of payroll taxes and also a loan program that helps you cover payroll expenses to keep employees getting paid, and has the ability to be forgiven in June. Both loan programs are first come, first serve, and subject to limited funding, so we urge you to read up on them and consider taking action right away, if they can be of use to you. It’s important to keep our island residents employed through this tough time. We hope these programs might benefit our island businesses. Even those of you that aren’t fired up yet for the summer season, should look at these programs, because you are likely qualified to partake as well. Don’t wait for summer - you need to look into these right away. Keep your chins up! Know that you’re not alone and we can help support each other through this. Please find below a copy of the teleconference notes taken by POW Chamber Directors Misty Fitzpatrick and Karen Petersen.
