From the Office of the President

Greetings from Prince of Wales Island, a place full of incredible beauty, natural resources, culture, and history. Our Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Office Manager make up a dynamic team who work together well for economic vitality, healthy quality of life and wise resource development within this treasured place we call home.

The Chamber’s 225 plus members is outstanding for this remote island community. Our guiding mission statement is “Progress Through Unity”.

From my seat, the underlying focus and encouragements are to support conservation-based initiatives which provide our youth the ability to stay here, enjoy this incredible place they call home, and have the economic opportunities to viably do so.

To do this, we must understand our cultures, ways of life, tourism, natural resources and their management, including commercial, sport and subsistence fisheries, marine biology, aquaculture, forestry and timber harvest, minerals and mining, wildlife conservation, State, Federal and Private land management, transportation, utility, education and healthcare infrastructures as well as civic and civil balance.

All of these factors and the respectful balance thereof, directly relate to the quality of life we have here. Viable sustainable businesses are the key to growing healthy families and communities with generational futures.

This is the commitment you have from the Chamber leadership team. We will be earnestly working to help you build, maintain and support businesses that can provide quality generational lifestyles for this incredible place called Prince of Wales Island.
