Outgoing POW Chamber of Commerce President’s Words

The Prince of Wales Chamber of Commerce wishes all of Prince of Wales a safe and happy December. It’s been a hard and very strange year for all of us. We are excited to be starting a new Chamber year and are grateful for all of our members that have renewed to help us work together to keep our economy going. As I end my sixth year as the President of the Chamber, I am pleased to welcome Brian Templin, as our new President for this next year. He is the planning director for the City of Craig and has been a helpful presence on our Chamber board this past twelve months. Brian is joined on our executive board by Di Thain – Vice President, Karen Peterson - Treasurer, and Misty Fitzpatrick - Secretary. We give a big thank you to Abby Twyman for her past service as Secretary and to Jan Bush who has served the Chamber tirelessly for well over a decade as President and Past- President, and for many years in other capacities prior to that. Both will continue serving on our board of directors for this next year, along with long time board members Lynnette Logan and Chad Burnett, who continue to provide thoughtful insights and project assistance. We’re very lucky to have Wendy Hamilton keeping everything running smoothly at the office and caring for our members’ needs so attentively. This past year our priority was to keep you updated on COVID assistance programs. We worked on improving our social media & website promotions of our business members. And we had multiple virtual luncheons on various topics. We intend to continue all of these activities this next year. We welcome the time when we can gather in person, once again, to hold a trade show, and other networking events. Until then, please let us know if you have an idea for a presenter or topic for a virtual luncheon.

Outdoor recreation business members - would you like to set up a committee to discuss ideas and take advantage of state and national programs that are starting to promote these economic opportunities?

Having trouble finding or training employees? - would you like to join us in setting up a job fair and some educational seminars for employers and prospective employees?

Do you enjoy writing or photography? We will need a committee to start on the next Island Guide publication and look forward to lots of local photo submissions.

Please reach out to Wendy to let her know what you would like to help with. 907-755-2626. info@princeofwalescoc.org.

Enjoy the lights and sounds of the season! Sharilyn Zellhuber, Past President, POW Chamber.
