Port Protection is located at the northwestern tip of Prince of Wales Island. The community has about 50 residents. Access is by either boat or float plane, but has no road access. A wooden boardwalk winds through the forest providing
access to residents' homes. Port Protection is an unincorporated community. Commercial fishing is the main industry.
Services include: Fuel & Diesel, General Store, Groceries, Laundromat, Liquor Store, School, Public Restroom, Shower, Telephone, Seasonal Fish Buyer, Restaurant, Lodging.
Attractions: "The Stairway to Heaven" - a series of steps leading up to the top of a ridge overlooking the cove, offers a spectacular view of the community, forest and ocean; fishing, wildlife viewing, ocean life.
